This is my quick guide to healthy and sustainable weight loss.
I get asked a lot what the best way to lose weight. I can tell you now there is now quick way to lose weight. There are a few important things everyone should know when it comes to weight loss.
First of all you need to build a good relationship with food. What I mean here is not attaching guilt to food. It is about understanding that you can eat a variety of foods whilst trying to lose weight. For some people it is easier to create a good relationship with food then is for others.
Secondly to actually lose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit. Basically you need to burn more calories then you are eating. Don’t restrict your calories to 1000-1200 calories a day. This is not maintainable or healthy. Small deficit is manageable and sustainable. Now I don’t mean going crazy with training and exercise so you can eat whatever you want.
Thirdly, if you want to lose weight in a healthy way. It is about small changes, making one change at a time. Increase your fruit and vegetables. Eat more whole foods. Eating smaller portion sizes. Increasing your daily step count. Make one change a week, become used to the change and allow it to become part of your routine before introducing another change.
Finally things take time. If you have a bad day, it doesn’t mean you have ruined your progress. It takes more then one day to see changes.
You need to be accountable to see change. Remember changes take time. Small daily habits play a large part in weight loss.
